How cholesterol test strips work
The principle of the cholesterol measurement device is based on electrochemical analysis, enabled by a special composition of substances applied to the test zone of the strips: cholesterol oxidase, cholesterol esterase, peroxidase, and a chromogen.
When interacting with cholesterol in the analyzed drop of blood, a chemical reaction occurs, generating an electrical signal. The analyzer measures the strength of this signal and, based on it, displays the cholesterol concentration in the blood.
Use and result interpretation
Cholesterol test strips are used together with the MULTICARE‑IN device for blood analysis. Before testing, remove the coding chip from the test package and insert it into the device.
Then insert a new strip into the special slot, disinfect and massage the fingertip to increase blood flow, and prick it with a disposable lancet.
Wipe away the first drop of blood with a sterile pad, then bring the second drop to the test zone and apply it—the membrane will absorb the required amount of blood automatically. The result appears on the device screen within 1–3 minutes, after which you can interpret the data or share it with your healthcare provider for therapy adjustment.
