The All‑Russian Forum “Health of the Nation — the Foundation of Russia’s Prosperity” was held again in Moscow, with the team of the Russian company “ETALON” taking part. At Gostiny Dvor, renowned scientists, physicians, experts, representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, public organizations, and business gathered to discuss the most pressing healthcare issues. This time, the main theme of the forum was the protection and strengthening of the health of the population of the Russian Federation in the face of challenges posed by new infectious diseases. Due to the coronavirus, the forum’s opening was postponed several times, but it finally took place.
In 2020, the entire world came face to face with a new enemy, the confrontation with which is now forever inscribed in human history. And it was precisely healthcare workers who became the heroes of our time. Despite the risks, they stood up to protect people’s health and well‑being. Today, the first results of the fight against the Covid‑19 virus have already been summarized. The “Health of the Nation” forum was organized, above all, to exchange experience and develop a common strategy for exiting the pandemic and the crisis situation. Key events of the exhibition were dedicated to current and important issues of public health protection, prevention and diagnosis, and effective forms and models of interaction among different segments of society during an extraordinary epidemiological situation. The event was organized by the All‑Russian Public Organization “League of Health of the Nation” and the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.
Greetings to the forum’s participants and guests were sent by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, Minister of Health of Russia Mikhail Murashko, Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov, and others.
“At the plenary session, at the sections and round tables, you are to discuss current problems related to optimizing the work of medical institutions under the coronavirus pandemic, preventing infectious and non‑communicable diseases, and increasing the effectiveness of inter‑agency cooperation at the federal and regional levels in this responsible area. And, of course, a great and significant support for employees of medical institutions will be the ‘Health for All’ exhibition, designed to acquaint attendees with the latest achievements of domestic science and best practices in healthcare organization. “Traditionally, this dialogue platform brings together physicians, scientists, representatives of relevant ministries, agencies, and business to discuss current issues in the healthcare sphere. The year 2020 has become for all of us a year of fighting the coronavirus infection. That is precisely why the central theme of your meeting is dedicated to the protection and strengthening of health, and to improving the quality and longevity of people’s lives in the face of new challenges,” noted the Head of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin in his greeting.
“The President of the Russian Federation has defined national goals and strategic tasks for breakthrough development of Russia, among which are increasing the population, raising citizens’ standard of living, and creating comfortable and safe conditions for their residence. Undoubtedly, success in solving these large‑scale tasks depends on constructive and fruitful interaction among government bodies at all levels, the scientific and expert communities, and the business sector,” stated in her greeting the Chairwoman of the upper chamber of parliament Valentina Matvienko.

“Our next forum is taking place in a very difficult period, when the entire world and our country are undergoing a very serious test of the system for ensuring the safety and health of citizens in the fight against the new coronavirus infection, which poses a danger to virtually everyone who encounters it. I would like to say that initially we planned to devote our forum to discussing national projects for the health of the nation. In principle, little has changed in this regard. It is still dedicated to this issue, but in the context of the events that have occurred and actions aimed at combating the coronavirus pandemic. We all need to analyze everything, draw preliminary conclusions, and familiarize civil society with them,” said Academician Leo Bokeria.
